Fair Wage

Our company believs that all workers should be paid a fair wage for the work they do. Our artisans are paid 100% of for the products we receive. In addition, we search out suppliers that also practice fair wage ethics.

Here are a few examples from our suppliers:

Nepal: "We believe in fair trade ethics. We pay our snitchers ( Piece rate) twice the amount of stitching and carving charge and pay the sampling unit twice the amount of what is the conventional overhead and profit charges."

Guatemala: " We realize if our women are not making a decent living that they may not be there when we place our next order. Our largest supplier employes 300 women. We have an arrangement with her to pay more per item than before working with us. We have been paying her the same price as we use to pay wholesalers on the street. By eliminating the middle man we are able to get more money to them. We have learned that this helps our quality as well as to get our orders more quickly. We know for a fact that by giving these Mayans work we are keeping their children in school as it is not free for them after their child is in the 6th grade. This is one of the reasons we are trying to keep our prices as low as we can to create more work in Guatemala. It's a blessing to see what these people can do with just 1.25 an hour. Just an example of other salaries in Guatemala, a police officer makes a little over a dollar an hour. Their electric bill is about $8.00 a month."
